Spinning Cone, High Speed
Machine did tend to vibrate somewhat. Good output of carrot juice w/moist pulp,
very poor with Spinach (very wet pulp). This juicer produced a lot of foam
doing Spinach (see bottom photo to left). This did cleanup in a short amount of time 4 min.
Green Star 2000

Twin Gear, Low Speed
Overall we felt this was the most efficient unit tested. This and Solostar were
the quietest ones. Good output of carrot juice w/dry pulp, very good with
Spinach (moist pulp). We did use olive oil on the gears to hold foaming down
when juicing just spinach.
Solostar II

Single Gear, Low Speed
Overall we felt this was the second most efficient unit tested. This and Green
Star were the quietest ones. Good output of carrot juice w/dry pulp, very good
with Spinach (moist pulp). This was the easiest juicer to clean (using a SS
brush).
As you can tell from the tests above the carrot juice yield was from 12 - 16.5 ounces and the spinach juice yield was from 12 – 21 ounces. When you’re buying organic produce (recommended) you want to get as much out of it as possible due to costs. We always highly recommend green leafy produce in the juice diet since it is very nutritious. Carrot is sweet and when mixed with green drinks it makes for a tasty and highly nutritional drink.
We found that the advantages with high speed juicers are they would juice a bit faster than the twin gear units and you could put larger pieces of fruit or vegetables in them. If you must buy a high speed machine the Juiceman MJ418SS is the one to go with for the money. We don’t really recommend any high speed machine because they do a very poor job with green leafy and they don’t do wheat grass. Our top two choices for juicers are the Green Star 2000 & Solostar II. We have found the juice coming out of the crushing type juicers to be of higher quality and it tasted better too.
